No, the ski pass is not included in the course fee. Please make sure that your child has a valid lift card in their pocket during the ski course in order to avoid unnecessary waiting times for the entire group.
Please note: Children younger than six years can have a free ski pass!
For further information on prices please contact the Dachstein West ski region directly. Further information on ski pass prices are available at www.dachstein.at.
Beginners need a lift ticket also for using the magic carpets at the beginner's area - further information from the lift company under www.dachstein.at.
Ski passes are available online under www.dachstein.at or at the ticket office of the Hornstein-Express directly near the Ski School Office.
Yes, of course. Our instructors will be at the meeting point 15 minutes before the start-time for the course and will take charge of your children.
You can go to your group course or meet your private ski instructor free of worries.
After a rough classification when booking, the children will receive a suitable ski school bib in the corresponding colour at the ski school office when the course begins. It is important that parents give an honest assessment when registering.
The finer allocation takes place at the start of the course when the children are brought forward directly on the slopes by our head ski instructors.
The classification is based on the following criteria:
- primarily based on driving ability and experience, driving technique, speed, safety
- age of the children with a corresponding number of course participants
- native language as the last aspect, as this cannot always be planned for group courses
The various ability levels are defined as follows - There are several subdivisions for each skill level::
* Group 5 - Green: Beginners: first contact with skis
* Group 4 - Blue: Doing turns on a flat slope
* Group 3 - Red: Skiers, who can ski on moderately difficult pistes
* Group 2 - Yellow: Skiers, who can ski on pistes at all levels of difficulty
* Group 1 - Yellow: Skiers, who can ski on the most difficult pistes and types of terrain with confidence (mogul pistes, powder snow, etc.)
Please note that after a longer "ski break" or due to changed slope conditions it may take a little while for your children to feel safe skiing again. It may therefore happen that the allocation is not exactly correct at the beginning - changes or a group change will then be made by our ski instructors as quickly as possible. Homogeneous groups are very important as they contribute significantly to the learning sucess of the whole group. If you have any questions, you can contact the ski school office at any time.
We try to ensure that there are 8 to 10 participants in each group in our kids courses. However, this is not the rule and cannot be guaranteed - there are often fewer than 8 children in the group, in the high season there can be up to 12 children. This is normal and also permitted by law. Since it is not possible to plan the group size precisely before dividing the group, as participants may change groups, the group sizes will be adjusted by the ski instructors at the start of the course.
Alternatively, we offer afternoon intensive courses in small groups for kids from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. during the high season.
In the Bambini Club, one instructor and additional assistants are in charge of a maximum of 6 children.
The adult and snowboard groups usually have 5 to a maximum of 8 participants. Most of the time there are fewer!
The equipment is not included in the course fee. Gosau Ski Rental, located in the same building as the Ski School Office is the first stop for competent advice and the best rental material.
The earlier the better. To be able to guarantee you a private instructor, we request you without fail to book online, if available.
If applicable, you may reserve in good time by telephone or by e-mail or in the Ski School Office at the resort.
In the high season there is a possibility that the group courses are fully booked. To ensure stress-free arrival and a relaxing holiday, we recommend that you book these courses online.
Where applicable, it is possible to register in advance by e-mail, by telephone or directly with us in the Ski School Office.
You may, of course, state your wishes. To do this, use the comment field in the online booking system.
However, please understand that with group courses we cannot guarantee that all your wishes regarding the instructor can be satisfied.
Our Bambini-Club welcomes toddlers from the age of 3 years. Ski lessons under the age of 3 years are usually not successful because the children are physically too small for the equipment and are often overwhelmed by the unfamiliar situation or cannot separate from their parents so easily. The focus in this age group is on fun. First experiences with skis on snow are made, balance is trained and after approx. 3 - 5 days most of the 3-4 year old children manage to learn how to use a snow plow. The most important thing is that your child wants to do it!
Yes, if the skiing ability and age are roughly the same. The success of the lesson and safety have priority. As the grouping in our ski school takes place on site at the assembly point, please inform the respective ski instructors of your wishes on the first day of the course. We will of course try to fulfil your wishes!
Please note that the child, who is the more accomplished skier, must show consideration for the weaker skier. The child who skis better may then not benefit from the course or become bored and may no longer enjoy the course.
Advanced skiers can enter a course daily from Sunday to Wednesday. To offer you the optimum result, courses for beginners, however, begin only on Sundays and Mondays (with the exception of the Christmas holidays). In addition, we offer the opportunity to attend a flexible private course.
Depending on the child's skill, the entire skiing area in the Dachstein West ski region will be used.
Yes, you can see whether your child enjoys it and then extend it at any time. You pay only the difference for the remaining days – courses are cheaper from the third day and the fifth consecutive day is free.
Our group courses for children start on Sunday and Monday and go till Friday. Advanced skiers can start daily from Sunday to Wednesday, but beginners may start only on Sunday or Monday. Adult courses and snowboard courses run from Monday to Wednesday.
We strongly recommend that courses are attended for consecutive days, since the groups progress and learn something new every day.
If children/adults do not participate with the group for one day, this could mean that they fall behind the other participants and that they might need to change the group.
